Our approach to the BYD stand at CarFest 2024 was to design a space that went beyond a typical car display. We wanted to create an experience that invited visitors to explore, engage, and have fun while learning about BYD’s range of vehicles. The modular stand, which had already been a hit at other major events like Boardmasters and the British Motorshow, was customized specifically for CarFest, ensuring it fit seamlessly into the lively festival atmosphere.
One of the standout features of the stand was the rooftop viewing platform. This elevated space gave visitors a unique vantage point to take in the sights and sounds of CarFest, while also serving as a social area where people could relax and enjoy the festival spirit. The platform was adorned with colourful festival flags that fluttered in the breeze, adding to the vibrant and celebratory feel of the stand.
The layout of the stand was designed to encourage movement and exploration. We divided it into several distinct zones, each dedicated to a different activity. Whether visitors were participating in Dolphin Car Karaoke, testing their skills at the grabber machine, or getting competitive with table football and PlayStation 5 FIFA 24, there was always something to capture their interest. We wanted every corner of the stand to be alive with activity, reflecting the dynamic energy of CarFest.
A Showstopping Moment: Beverley Knight's Dolphin Car Karaoke
One of the most memorable moments at the BYD stand came on Friday night, just before the headline performance on the main stage. We were honoured to welcome none other than Beverley Knight, the iconic British singer, to the stand. In a truly special moment, Beverley stepped into the BYD Dolphin and treated us to a live rendition of her hit song "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda."
The Dolphin Car Karaoke experience had already been a favourite among festival-goers, but Beverley’s impromptu performance took it to another level. As she belted out her famous tune, visitors gathered around the stand, creating a mini-concert vibe that perfectly encapsulated the fun, spontaneous energy of CarFest. Beverley’s performance was a fantastic prelude to her main stage show later that evening and left everyone at the BYD stand buzzing with excitement.
Engaging Activities for All Ages
Beyond the headline moments, the BYD stand was a hub of activity throughout the weekend, offering a range of interactive experiences that appealed to visitors of all ages. One of the key attractions was the RJ Skills Freestyle Football sessions. RJ Skills, a renowned freestyle footballer, wowed the crowd with his incredible tricks and then invited kids to join in and learn some of his moves. This hands-on experience not only entertained but also inspired young festival-goers to get active and try something new.
For those with a passion for music, the DJ School was a hit. Aspiring young DJs had the chance to learn how to mix music and create their own beats, guided by professional instructors. This interactive activity allowed kids to explore their creativity and take home a new skill—one that they could continue to develop long after the festival ended.
Adding to the fun was a dedicated area for hair braiding and glitter Dolphin-themed makeup. For a small charitable donation, visitors could get their hair braided or add some sparkle to their festival look with glitter makeup. This activity was especially popular with families, as it provided a way for both kids and adults to join in the festival spirit while also supporting a good cause. All proceeds went to one of the children’s charities supported by CarFest, reinforcing BYD’s commitment to giving back to the community.
Introducing Yangwang: The Pinnacle of Luxury Electric Vehicles
While the stand was buzzing with activities, the real showstoppers were the Yangwang U9 hypercar and Yangwang U8 super SUV, which made their CarFest debut.
